The Go-Change movement submitted Wednesday 36,000 signatures against the latest amendments to the Criminal Code.
The movement said they will present arguments at the public discussion for three specific changes related to arrests, public procurement, and the abolition of the crime of extortion of confession.
Go-Change leader Savo Manojlovic told a press conference outside the Justice Ministry that they are particularly concerned about the proposal for the first of the three amendments, which introduces a criminal offense for publishing so-called advice on committing crimes. He said it was “completely unclear in terms of what it means to share advice on social media.”
Manojlovic questioned whether sharing Fyodor Dostoevsky’s statement “where he talks about killing an old woman” would be a criminal offense, and added that they are especially interested in this criminal offense being introduced because of environmental protests.
He said the regime has established dominant control through the media, and that this number of signatures and people indicates that “not only will you not dig, but you won’t arrest anyone either.”
