Government gives discount to households that save electricity
The Serbian Government said that it recommended to the Serbian power company (EPS) Belgrade to introduce a discount on electricity charges for customers in the “household” category and thereby reduce electricity bills starting October 2022 and ending with the March 2023 bill, said a Government press release.
The Government said that a 15 percent discount will be given to households that reduce electricity consumption by five to 20 percent compared to the same month last year, while household that reduce consumption by 20 to 30 percent will be entitled to a 20 percent discount on their electricity bill.
A 30 percent discount will be given to households that reduce their electricity consumption by more than 30 percent compared to the same month last year.
“In this way, the state will stimulate households to reduce electricity consumption, which will help reduce the costs of EPS and stabilize the supply, due to the global disruption in the electricity market and the sudden price jump,” said the press release.
