The Council of Europe’s anti-corruption body said that Serbia implemented 10 of its 13 recommendations on preventing corruption among MPs and the judiciary.

“GRECO (Group of States against Corruption) in its new report concluded that Serbia has satisfactorily implemented ten of the thirteen recommendations given by GRECO in 2015 on corruption prevention in respect of members of parliament, judges and prosecutors,” a press release said.

It added that 3 recommendations were implemented only in part. It said that those recommendations are on the transparency of the legislative process, the composition and role of the State Prosecutorial Council and the reform procedurues for the recruitment and promotion of public prosecutors and their deputies.

“The adoption of this report terminates GRECO’s 4th thematic monitoring round for Serbia,” it said and added that the monitoring continues into the ongoing 5th round focused on preventing corruption and promoting integrity in central governments (top executive functions) and law enforcement agencies.
