Health Minister: My worst life experience

“With 40 years of service, this is perhaps my worst experience. Both as a doctor and as a person. All we can do is see to it that the wounded children recover,” she said.

The Minister stressed nothing can be done to bring back those who have been killed.

She gave an update on the status of the wounded.

“Two boys are in (the University Children’s Clinic) Tirsova, they have leg injuries. A girl sustained an entry and exit wound to the head. She has undergone surgery… The damage is great and they are fighting for her life. They are also fighting at the Emergency Center, a girl has injuries to the stomach and arms, she is stable. A boy has a leg injury, he is in the orthopedic OR. A boy has sustained a spinal fracture, fifth and sixth vertebrae…Additional screenings have been done… the teacher has a pelvic injury…she, too, is in critical condition,” said Grujicic.

She expressed her sincere condolences to the parents who lost their children on Wednesday morning when a teenage boy opened fire in the Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school in central Belgrade killing eights students and a security guard, and wounding six students and a teacher.
