Heat wave causes fires in southern Serbia

The portal said that a number of brush and forest fires started in the Toplica District with firefighters rushing to the scene of several to stop the fires from destroying farms and villages.

Most of the fires were in the Prokuplje and Kursumlija municipalities, it added.

The Serbian national weather service (RHMZ) issued a heat wave warning on Monday which predicted possible fires in southern areas of the country.
