A heavy storm with strong winds and hail hit parts of southern Serbia on Thursday, local media reported.

The storm hit the city of Nis and headed southwards pelting the region with rain and hail, the Juzne Vesti portal said adding that lightning and thunder were also reported.

Farmers reported damage to their crops, especially orchards across the south of the country.

The national weather service (RHMZ) warned that the storm could spread to eastern parts of the country.
