High school enrollment tests start

All eight-graders in Serbia are taking a test in Serbian language Monday while, due to security reasons, the testing will be organized in 522 schools instead of the previously planned 1,260 schools.
Security measures have been tightened due to numerous bomb threats sent in the past period to schools, public institutions and many other locations across Serbia, Serbia’s public broadcaster (RTS) reported.
Serbia’s Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Branko Ruzic said that the Internal Affairs Ministry has made great efforts to secure the 522 schools in which the students are taking tests on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Beta reported.
Serbian eight-graders take exams in math, the Serbian language and a combined test in other subjects. The three-part exam is required for secondary education enrollment. The exam results are included in their overall rankings to get into high school.
