Hill: No announcement of sanctions against Serbian Oil Industry
US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill said that there is no announcement of sanctions against the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS), but that Washington remains concerned about the Russian majority ownership of Serbia’s only oil refinery.
Speaking to Serbian state TV (RTS), Hill explained that US concerns have existed since Russia’s acquisition of NIS.
Hill said Russia continues to wage its barbaric war against Ukraine in the 21st century and there is concern that NIS, in Russian hands, is helping Russia fund its war efforts.
The ambassador said that the eventual decision on NIS will not impact the Serbian economy in any way, shape or form.
He praised Serbia’s economic growth and emphasized that the US wants to see this positive trend continue.
