US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill said he was disappointed and concerned over Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s decision not to extend the deadline for the re-registration of vehicles with Serbia-issued license plates, despite calls to do so from the US, European Union (EU) and Quint.

Kurti said that the replacing of Serbia-issues license plates with RKS (Republic of Kosovo) plates begins on November 1 and that there will be no more delays, even though the US and EU have asked the Pristina authorities to postpone the process for ten months.

Ambassador Hill told the daily Blic that the US Government and its international partners have repeatedly asked the Kosovo Government to extend the deadline for the re-registration of vehicles. He said they were disappointed and concerned over Kosovo Government’s refusal to accept their closest international partners’ requests and advice regarding this issue.

The US Ambassador said he welcomes the continuation of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina under the auspices of Brussels and called on Kosovo and Serbia to continue taking part in the EU-mediated dialogue.
