"The regime has initiated a spiral of violence, and when it will be stopped will not depend on them. We have entered a very dangerous phase, where social and political contradictions and polarization should be resolved institutionally and through elections," Beslin stated in an interview for today's Nova newspaper.

However, he added that the "regime has destroyed and rendered meaningless our institutions and does not allow for any elections, let alone fair ones."

Beslin assessed that the authorities "believe that by intensified repression, which is taking the form of state terror, they will suppress the student and citizen protest movement, but in fact, they are only strengthening, motivating, and homogenizing it."

He concluded with a crucial message, arguing that it is "good for everyone, including the regime, that elections be held as soon as possible, because any further delay in finding a solution and increasing terror raises the price of the political outcome."
