Dijana Hrka, mother of Stefan, one of the 16 victims of the canopy collapse at Novi Sad Train Station, who is on her ninth day of a hunger strike near the pro-regime encampment outside the Serbian Parliament in Belgrade, told N1 on Monday morning that she felt slightly weak but was not severely ill, and that she had been examined by a doctor. She said an artillery strike simulator device was thrown toward her tent early Monday morning, and she reiterated that she would not end her hunger strike until institutions start doing their job.

Hrka said her question to the police is where do the people inside the pro-government encampment, colloquially known as Caciland, get an artillery strike simulator device. “Do they want to scare me?! What do they want?” Hrka asked indignantly.

She emphasized that she will have to involve foreign institutions in “what is happening here.”

Hrka recounted that those gathered in Caciland receive daily wages every evening, adding, “the police are there, the Presidency building is there, the Parliament is there, do they think we are crazy?”

She also said that the Monday morning artillery strike simulator device incident “crossed all lines.”

“Since this morning, no one has reacted to this incident. They say the students are bad; the students are golden,” Hrka said.

Dijana Hrka began her hunger strike on November 2, the day after a commemorative rally in Novi Sad marking the anniversary of the canopy collapse.

Stefan Hrka’s mother is demanding the prosecution of those responsible for the Novi Sad disaster, the release of all detained students, and the calling of snap parliamentary elections.
