Upon his arrival at the EU-Western Balkans Summit, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Serbia is a key country in the region, describing Brussels’ attitude toward Serbia as unfair and shameful.

“Serbia is a key country, and the entire EU enlargement process has been a complete failure over the past four years. Serbia has not moved an inch while, at the same time, the Western Balkans is an economic gold reserve for the EU,” Orban told reporters, commenting on the absence of Serbia’s representatives at the Summit.

He also emphasized that Serbia is crucial for the European Union’s defense against migration.

Orban asserted that nothing can be accomplished in the region without Serbia.

“We are behaving in an unacceptable manner. We must first deal with Serbia, find solutions to the problems, and only then continue with the others. What we are doing now is the opposite. It is bad, unfair and shameful,” he said.
