Kreni-Promeni activism group leader Savo Manojlovic was assaulted during Friday’s anti-violence protest.

Manojlovic told N1 that a small group approached him and his associates and friends, shouting provocations and then trying to hit him with a belt. He said that he was told by passersby that the young men were from the so-called People’s Patrols, a right-wing organization that supports the Serbian authorities.

Kreni-Promeni is an online activism group that advocates changes in Serbia.

A young woman protester showed an N1 reporter a video of a man dressed like the man who assaulted Manojlovic trying to grab a flag from a protester in front of parliament before the march started and then trying to grab her phone when he realized she was recording.

A video posted on social media showed the incident and the crowd of protesters pushing the attackers away.
