The debate, in one of the halls of the SPENS sports center, was interrupted by the protesters wielding torches and throwing gas bombs. They also pulled the power cables for projectors used by city planning commission officials.

“This is my city, our city. This is a city of all of us, not of Galens and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS),” activist Brajan Brkovic shouted at the end of the meeting.
An N1 reporter said that the meeting was tense from the start with Urbanizam organization activists facing off across the table with city officials before the city planning commission chief called an end and the activists claimed victory. The public also demanded that the city officials introduce themselves.

The activists accused the commission members of working for the Galens company.

Galens is a company alleged to be close the ruling SNS. The company has plans for a project similar to the Belgrade Waterfront and is alleged to have at least two of its employees in the city planning commission.
