Several incidents were reported in Novi Sad and Belgrade at Friday’s 15 Minutes of Silence protest in memory of the people who died in the fall of a canopy roof at Novi Sad Railway Station.
Two violent incidents happened in Novi Sad when a man driving a Porche rammed into the crowd during the memorial. A video posted on the 021.rs portal showed the car ramming into the crowd and knocking one man down.
A second incident took place when a group of four thugs ran into the crowd and started punching and kicking people. They left the scene quickly after the people at the protest crowded around them. A video of that attack was posted on social media. The Novi Sad police department said that the 4 men had been arrested and that they included an off-duty policeman based in Zemun.
A third, much less violent incident, took place in central Belgrade when a man started shouting and arguing with protesters standing silently on the street. The man was calmed and stood there in silence till the end of the 15 minute memorial protest.
