Serbia’s outgoing Internal Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic denied all “malicious claims” and reiterated, “under full moral and legal responsibility, that the police did not use any illegal means during the Saturday mass gathering” in Belgrade.

“In the avalanche of false news, I want to refute all malicious claims once again and reaffirm, under full moral and legal responsibility, that the police did not use any illegal devices during yesterday’s gathering. On the contrary, even while under attack, the police did not resort to using batons, let alone any other illegal means,” Dacic said on Sunday.

He emphasized that, in light of the fact that these disinformation campaigns are causing public anxiety, he has requested written statements from the commanders of all units that participated in securing the rallies, as well as from the acting police director and the chief of police in Belgrade.

“All commanders’ statements will be made public. Likewise, the communication lines in the command system are recorded, and everyone can verify that what has been said is not true,” Dacic stressed.
