IRMCT president reports Serbia to UN SC for failure to extradite Jojic, Radeta

In a regular report on the court, Santana stressed that Serbia still “refuses” to execute a court order and arrest and extradite Jojic and Radeta, which is a consistent obstruction of the court in meeting its mandate and trying defendants.

“The continued refusal of Serbia to cooperate in the contempt case concerning Petar Jojic and Vjerica Radeta constitutes a persistent obstacle to the Mechanism’s discharge of its mandated functions, and has hampered its ability to try those accused for almost a decade,” Santana told the Security Council.

Santana has reported Serbia several times to the UN Security Council over the non-extradition of Jojic and Radeta.
Her predecessor Carmel Agius reported Serbia to the UN Security Council three times for non-cooperation in the case of Jojic and Radeta.

In October 2012, the Hague Tribunal accused Jojic and Radeta of influencing prosecution witnesses in the Hague trial against their party leader Vojislav Seselj by persuading them to change their statements or not to testify by threatening, blackmailing and bribing them.

The Serbian authorities have been refusing to arrest and extradite Jojic and Radeta since 2015, when the Hague Tribunal issued the first warrant for their arrest.
