Israeli President Isaac Herzog is due to visit Serbia on Wednesday to meet with President Aleksandar Vucic, the Time of Israel said quoting an unnamed Israeli official.

The daily said that Herzog will also visit Tirana for meetings with Albanian President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama during the 24-hour trip. It recalled that CIA director Bill Burns was in Serbia last month and met with his Serbian counterpart to discuss, among other things, Israel’s security situation.

On Tuesday, Serbia Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met with Israeli Ambassador Avivit Bar-Ilan, telling her that Herzog’s visit is an opportunity to improve bilateral relations at all levels. Djuric said that Belgrade is following the situation in the Middle East with great attention and concern and added that Serbiaremains committed to diplomatic initiatives for peace and the release of hostages.

Investigative media have reported that Serbia has exported large quantities of munitions to Israel over the past few months.
