
Italian Army Major General Enrico Barduani on Friday officially assumed leadership of the NATO-led peacekeeping mission in Kosovo (KFOR), taking over from Turkish General Ozkan Ulutas.

The handover-takeover ceremony, held at KFOR’s headquarters, was also attended by Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Hovenier.
Barduani is the 29th KFOR commander, and the 14th Italian general at its helm.
He has had a long career both in and outside Italy. His latest post was in the Office of Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, where he served as Chief of Defense Policy.
