Croatia’s oil pipeline operator JANAF said on Monday that it is currently unable to assess the full impact of US sanctions against the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) on its operations, Hina reported.
JANAF recalled that on 10 January, the US Department of the Treasury imposed a package of sanctions on the energy sector of the Russian Federation due to its military actions in Ukraine. These sanctions are aimed at further restricting the business operations and revenues of Russian energy companies.
The sanctions also cover NIS, with which JANAF has signed a crude oil transport contract for the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2026.
“Since it is currently not possible to predict the future intensity of US sanctions against NIS a.d., it is also not possible to fully assess the impact of these sanctions on JANAF’s operations,” the statement said.
JANAF announced that it would “closely monitor” developments and revise its business plans as necessary.
