Between the two poles of the media, both those who are independent and those who are pro-governmental, there is a gray zone of relativisation where the media outlets act as if they are critical, but this is so only up to the point when it becomes thick, when a real affair appears, said N1 journalist Natasa Miljkovic, speaking for Demostat.

“I think that in that gray zone, where both the government and the opposition are guests, is the biggest point of confusion for viewers, which is the goal, because with these two poles that we all keep talking about that we are divided as a society and the media, things are clear, but it seems to me that the gray area is a bigger problem,” said Miljkovic, who was an editor and host at public broadcaster RTS for years.
Asked if RTS is also in that gray zone, Miljkovic said that it is - there is no aggression, no hatred on RTS, but that while respecting its viewers, it skillfully hides the essential problems of citizens.
According to Miljkovic, RTS has always been the most trusted and watched and she believes that they are not even aware of their role and obligations for the future of Serbia.
She also noted that there is no criticism of the government in RTS programme, but that President Aleksandar Vucic has no problem criticising RTS journalists, thus sending the message that they are never servile enough.
