Journalist and Co-chair of the EU-Serbia Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) Bosko Savkovic signed with the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade a plea agreement confessing to the crime of advocating violent overthrow of constitutional order and has been conditionally released, said the Prosecutor’s Office.

Following the hearing, the Higher Court in Belgrade confirmed the agreement and sentenced Savkovic to six months’ probation. Both parties waived their right to appeal.

Savkovic admitted to calling on the citizens, at the June 3, 2023 Serbia Against Violence Protest in Belgrade, to violently overthrow Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic by carrying a banner which included an effigy of the President hanging with string around the neck, said the Prosecutor’s Office.

The photo of the banner and effigy was posted on social media and portals.
