"I see the strength of the students. I think they have come out sincerely and with clear demands. I like that this rebellion is authentic. It came after a horrific event, and they are seeking clear answers, which the authorities have not yet provided," said journalist Antonela Riha. She added that Aleksandar Vucic would "reveal corruption" if he would answer all the questions he is being asked regarding the reconstruction of the Novi Sad Railway Station. Pročitaj više

Riha noted that Vucic does not handle unexpected situations well.

„We’ve seen this in several instances. From the helicopter crash and the loss of lives, through the pandemic, to now. Situations that occur outside his plan throw him off balance. In a way, I understand why he doesn’t want to answer certain questions, as it would uncover corruption, and I assume he would have to sacrifice some of his people. But on the other hand, his ‘damage control’ doesn’t work very well. An example is his statement that young people shouldn’t fight but should work and earn money – presumably at EXPO,“ said Riha.

She added that such statements are, as she put it, foolish and „the definition of confabulation.“

„This shows how poorly he handles such situations. He should order all secret contracts to be made public so we can see the chain of ‘command’ behind the reconstruction of the Novi Sad Railway Station and verify whether the investigations align with the existing documents,“ Riha said.

She stated that the most appalling aspect of the reconstruction of the canopy at the Novi Sad Railway Station is that there was no report on the structure’s condition.

„And the project from 1964 is lost. So, you can see the chronology of concealment. This is the politics of ‘you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.’ And then an accident happens, and 15 people die,“ Riha assessed.
