Judge ends proceedings against ruling party activists charged with assault on students
The 4 ruling party activists who broke a young woman’s jaw and beat up her fellow students will not face a trial because the proceedings against them have been officially ended.
The final hearing in the case was held on Tuesday with the judge saying that the ruling was the only option after President Aleksandar Vucic pardoned the 4 activists of his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) early this month.
The 4 men were charged with using baseball bats to beat up students putting up posters prior to a mass protest in Novi Sad late in January when they broke a girl student’s jaw. The fallout of the assault included the resignations of the prime minister and mayor of Novi Sad.
