KFOR’s new commander Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia met with Serb List leader Goran Rakic to discuss security in the north of Kosovo, a press release said and added that he called for restraint from all parties.

“General Ristuccia urged all the parties to avoid unilateral actions, maintain restraint, refrain from violence, and engage constructively in dialogue,” KFOR said in the press release two days after the COMKFOR's meeting with Rakic and the mayors of four majority-Serb northern municipalities.

A Serb List press release right after the meeting said that Rakic told the general the Kosovo Serbs would not give up their Serbian-issued license plates and that they were concerned about a possible reaction by the authorities in Pristina.

It said that they discussed the general situation, “with particular regard to a credible and transparent communication and to security aspects in northern Kosovo”. “He also informed Rakic and representatives of the municipalities about KFOR’s ongoing activities and efforts to prevent any escalation in the future,” it said.
