KFOR denied on Monday that its commander Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia met with Serb List leader Goran Rakic or that he gave a warning about a shooting in the town of Zvecan.

“Media reports of a meeting with Goran Rakic are unfounded, as are allegations that the KFOR Commander made any warning of a shooting in Zvečan,” a press release said.

It said that KFOR raised its presence in northern Kosovo “to ensure a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement, in accordance with its mandate from UNSCR 1244 of 1999”.

The press release said that General Ristuccia and his staff are investing effort to ease the situation and are in contact with all sides, including institutions and security organizations in Kosovo and the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff.
