KFOR confirmed on Wednesday that one of its drones crashed in Mitrovica south due to an unspecified malfunction.
The NATO-led mission said that no injuries or material damage was caused by the crash, adding that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause. It said the drone was on a routine overflight mission as part of KFOR activities to provide a secure environment. It said that the Kosovo police took control of the drone after it fell.
The Belgrade pro-regime Vecernje Novosti daily said that the aircraft was an Israeli-made Elbit Skylark 1 reconnaissance drone, operated by the Croatian KFOR contingent. The pro-regime Informer tabloid said that the drone belongs to KFOR units cooperating with Albanian armed forces in Kosovo.
