KFOR: Turkish troops replace Italians

“The deployment of the Turkish contingent reflects KFOR’s steadfast commitment to continue to provide a safe and secure environment for the benefit of all communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially, in accordance with its UN mandate based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999,” a press release said.

It added that the new deployment is another concrete demonstration of NATO’s continued engagement towards lasting security in Kosovo and stability across the Western Balkans.

KFOR is currently under the command of Turkish Major General Ozkan Ulutas.
