During the operation, the Cyrillic sign - the script used in the Serbian language and by the local Serb population - was removed from the building and replaced with a new sign in Latin script. The Kosovo flag was also raised at the site.
Present at the scene were several acting ministers from the Kosovo Government, including acting Interior Minister Xhelal Svecla, acting Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli, and Acting Infrastructure Minister Dimal Basha, KoSSev said.
Kosovo authorities announced that they have taken control of the train station facility, which is located near the Trepca industrial complex.
The events took place on the first official day of the election campaign for Kosovo’s snap parliamentary elections, scheduled for June 7.
