The Constitutional Court of Kosovo has been admitted as a member of the European Conference of Constitutional Courts (CECC).

The information was confirmed on the X social media platform by French Ambassador to Kosovo Olivier Guerot.

“Congratulations to the Constitutional Court of Kosovo on its admission to the Conference of European Constitutional Courts! This achievement reflects the credibility of the Court and of its commitment to the rule of law and European values,” Guerot wrote.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo officially became an associate member of this European forum of courts during the Preparatory Meeting of the Presidents’ Circle of the 20th Congress of the European Conference of Constitutional Courts, which was held at end of February 28 in Tirana.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo applied for membership in 2011.

For years, Serbia has fought against the admission of this Pristina institution into CECC.

In May 2024 the Kosovo court’s application was rejected as if failed to secure the required two-thirds majority of attending members at the President’s Circle of the Conference, the Serbian Constitutional Court said at the time.

According to N1’s source, a Serbian delegation, led by the president of the Constitutional Court of Serbia, attended the meeting in Tirana.
