Kosovo Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci denied Serbian President Aleksandr Vucic’s claims regarding the use of drones to assess the capabilities of the Serbian military, reported KoSSev, adding that he also leveled accusations again Belgrade.

The portal said that Maqedonci is now also mentioning a potential attack, that is, “threats from Serbia,” as well as “Kosovo's readiness to defend itself.”

Vucic spoke Thursday about the modernization of the Serbian Armed Forces, but also about similar activities by Pristina, including the use of Turkish Bayraktar drones, recalled KoSSev.

He said that Turkish-made Bayraktar drones were recorded rising from the Kosovo city of Djakovica on June 5 and 20, adding that they were “scouting the positions of the Army of Serbia (VS)”.

“We watched them as if they were in the palm of our hand, and if it were a different time, they wouldn't have stayed in the air for long. Since this airspace is under KFOR control, we respect KFOR's airspace. They do their job, we do ours,” said Vucic.

However, Minister Maqedonci denied Aleksandar Vucic’s claims on Thursday evening, Pristina media reported. He told Tëvë1 that the drones are used only for Kosovo surveillance, reported KoSSev.

Following Kosovo Parliament speaker Glauk Konjufca’s recent announcement of potential “attacks from Serbia,” along with claims about “a group that is being trained,” a similar sentiment was echoed by Kosovo’s defense minister.

Maqedonci also mentions “provocative exercises,” saying that “Serbia never discontinued them,” not before or after the September 24 attack in the village of Banjska, northern Kosovo.

Asked about the potential for an attack by Serbia, Maqedonci said the threat persists as long as the concept of “Greater Serbia” exists in the region, reported Tëvë1.

He said he does not rule out the possibility of a similar attack happening as long as “Serbia supports terrorist groups.”

“In spite of that, we are ready to face every challenge and any kind of threat. Not only from Serbia, but from anyone who dares to jeopardize our country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said Maqedonci.
