Kosovo deputy PM accuses Serbia of creating census obstacles for Albanians

Kosovo deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi on Wednesday accused the authorities in Belgrade of creating obstacles in the ongoing census for Albanians in southern Serbia.
“Aggressive and targeted obstacles for registration of Albanians in Serbia,” Bislimi wrote in a Twitter post. He said that this was the case in the Medvedja area which has a large ethnic Albanian population and claimed that “there are only three Albanian speaking surveyors and all of them allocated to areas not inhabited by Albanians”.
He called the OSCE to urgently prevent the alleged manipulation and called the Albanians in the Medvedja area to “massively register in the coming weeks”.
The 2022 census began on October 1 and is scheduled to be completed on October 31.
