Kosovo’s chief negotiator in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Besnik Bislimi said on Monday that the moment was right to apply to join the Council of Europe (CoE).

“I firmly believe that all the CoE member states that recognized Kosovo will support us,” the deputy prime minister is reported to have told a Kosovo government meeting. He added that the application was submitted in coordination with Pristina’s partners.

According to Bislimi, Kosovo has taken an important step which will provide its citizens with a European institution to resolve issues in.

Pristina applied for membership in CoE late last week.
