Kosovo election commission orders recount of all ballots

The Commission met earlier in the day and voted unanimously for a full recount of all votes cast at 2,557 polling stations in all municipalities and the dismissal of representatives of political parties in the Prizren Municipal Election Commission.

The recount was ordered after weeks of claims by civil society organizations and election observers of irregularities and fraud.

KoSSev quoted analysts who said the results of the recount could not come earlier than mid-February which means a set of laws that need to be ratified by parliament, including an EU fund, would be late.

The Commission decided at its January 13 meeting to order a full recount in 10 municipalities and partial recounts at some polling stations in the remaining municipalities.
