Kosovo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Gervalla-Schwarz dismissed the demands put forward by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic for Kosovo as “outdated.”
“It’s the same old story. All this discussion, yesterday’s whole spectacle about some demands he’s repeated countless times before – he’s seen they haven’t worked,” Gervalla-Schwarz told Klan Kosova TV.
She urged the Serbian president to focus on fulfilling dialogue commitments instead of continuing to repeat the same demands.
“Aleksandar Vucic should explain to his citizens that, if he wants to make progress, he needs to fulfill the obligations he has taken on in the dialogue process,” said Gervalla-Schwarz.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Belgrade’s requirements for normalizing the situation and advancing dialogue with Pristina include establishing the Community of Serb Municipalities in Kosovo and holding free and democratic elections in the north of Kosovo. In his public address, he also listed the return of Serbs to Kosovo police forces in the north and the withdrawal of Kosovo’s special police units from the area.
He also called for the formation of a regional Northern Directorate, with Serbs among the police officers, in line with the Brussels Agreement.
The Serbian president emphasized that this includes the “urgent, immediate, and final establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities.”
