Kosovo government spokesman Perparim Krieziu said on Monday that Prime Minister Albin Kurti will not attend an informal meeting of Western Balkan heads of government in Tirana with European Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi.

Krieziu said in a Facebook post that Kurti was invited to the informal lunch by Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama along with other regional prime ministers.

“Prime Minister Kurti has informed Prime Minister Rama that he will not be able to go this time since months ago he confirmed his attendance at a conference in Crete, Greece where the panel for the Western Balkans is exactly on the same day and at the same time,” the post said and added that Kurti will attend the Berlin Process Summit in Tirana on October 16.

Krieziu denied media reports that deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi would attend Monday’s meeting in Tirana.
