Serbian authorities have granted permission for the transfer of Faton Hajrizi’s body to Kosovo, the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.
It said that the attorney representing the Hajrizi family is working with the head of the Liaison Office in Belgrade to carry out the necessary procedures for the body’s transport, KoSSev reported.
The Ministry also mentioned that they will update the public on further procedures related to the identification process.
Hajrizi was shot dead on June 19 in the Serbian city of Loznica after he killed one police officer and wounded another before fleeing the scene. He was shot by the Serbian police following a brief manhunt.
Hajrizi, who had previously escaped from Smrekovnica prison in early July, was a convicted criminal in Kosovo for the murder of a Russian soldier, robbery, and wounding police officers. He had escaped from prison nine times.
