Kosovo minister says billboards with Serbian politicians unacceptable
Kosovo Internal Affairs Minister Xhelal Svecla said on Thursday that the billboards with images of Serbian politicians which were taken down in Zvecan are unacceptable in Kosovo.
“Illegal billboards with symbols and images of dictators and aggressors which are unacceptable in the Republic of Kosovo have been removed today in Zvecan,” he wrote in a Facebook post adding that “the only symbol of Serbia within our state will be its embassy in Pristina”.
“These billboards of the images of fascists and aggressors like Vladimir Putin and the opponents of our state will have no place in our state,” he wrote.
The billboards included images of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, former Office for Kosovo chief turned Ambassador Marko Djuric, tennis player Novak Djokovic and Russian President Vladimir Putin with the words honorary citizens of Zvecan.
The Facebook post included a video of a smiling Svecla watching workers take down one of the billboards in the majority-Serb municipality of Zvecan in the north of Kosovo.
