Kosovo MP Bekim Haxhiu said on Tuesday that he respects anyone who kills a Serbian policeman.

Haxhiu’s statement comes after the funeral of Kosovo Albanian Faton Hajrizi who killed a police officer in the Serbian city of Loznica after escaping from prison in Kosovo. Hajrizi was traveling with his brother’s passport and documents when his taxi was stopped by a police patrol. Hajrizi shot the policeman and fled. He served time for the killing of Russian KFOR soldier, thefts and attempted murders.

“Whoever kills a Serbia policeman has my respect,” Haxhiu wrote in a Facebook post. He also posted pictures from the funeral in the village of Donja Klina. Haxhiu added that Faton Hajrizi was the first Kosovo Albanian who left Kosovo to kill a Serb in Serbia.

Haxhiu is a member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).
