Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti called on the Kosovo diaspora on Wednesday to register by May 17 and participate in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections on June 7.

In a video message, Kurti emphasized that although citizens, both in Kosovo and abroad, voted in elections on February 9 and December 28, 2025, the formation of a government led by his party, the Self-Determination movement, was “obstructed despite convincing results.”
“Dear compatriots, those who think they can wear down the people will only exhaust themselves. We, who are on the right path, will never stop working for the common good and the public interest,” Kurti said.
The prevailing view among Kosovo analysts is that the diaspora vote was the deciding factor in Kurti’s victory in the December 28 elections, with some estimates suggesting it provided him with more than 150,000 votes.
