Kosovo Post Office opens branch in Mitrovica North

The opening of the post office branch was attended by Kosovo Economy Minister Artana Rizvanoli and Local Government Minister Elbert Krasniqi. The KoSSev news portal said that Serbian-language media outlets were not told about the opening. It reported a strong police presence along with EULEX personnel.

The Kosovo government ordered the closure of Serbian Post Office branches in the majority-Serb northern municipalities, angering the local Serbs who relied heavily on the post office to receive their income.

A protester told KoSSev that anotehr post office branch was located just 400 meters away, adding that the new branch will not replace the Serbian Post Office in terms of pension and social security payments.
