Kosovo President asks Japanese PM for help in obtaining new recognitions

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, who is visiting Japan, met with the Prime Minister of this country, Yoshihide Suga, whom she asked for support for obtaining new recognitions of Kosovo and membership in international organizations.

Osmani thanked Prime Minister Suga for the country’s support to Kosovo in the field of health and environmental protection, expressing readiness to further expand cooperation in other areas of common interest, especially due to Japanese investments, the Kosovo President’s Office said.

In addition to messages of gratitude, Osmani had one other request.

„President Osmani asked for Japan’s support for strengthening Kosovo’s international position, especially in the process of recognition and membership in international organizations,“ the statement added.

According to the official data of the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan is the 27th country to recognize Kosovo – in March 2008, right after the unilateral declaration of independence was published.
