Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani said on Wednesday that Serbia’s lack of willingness to impose sanctions on Russia is bad for the entire Western Balkans region.

“Serbia has not shown the will to align with the European Union on the sanctions against Russia following the invasion of Ukraine,” she told reporters in Brussels before the EU-Western Balkans summit. Osmani expressed the hope that the countries of the Western Balkans will get clear support for the region’s European perspective.

According to Osmani, “the democratic countries of the Western Balkans that have show that they share the values of the EU should move forward” on European integration.

Anyone who thinks they can be on (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s road and the European path at the same time should give up, she said.
