Replying to European Union (EU) Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak, who recently said that the CSM draft statute is Kosovo’s internal issue, Kurti said on Facebook that he can write a draft statute, in consultation with Kosovo’s Minister for Communities and Returns Nenad Rasic and Local Government Administration Minister Elbert Krasniqi.
The Kosovo PM said he believes Brussels and Lajcak will focus more on Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic “who stole elections in Serbia,” instead of putting public pressure “on us with options that turn democratic and pro-European Kosovo into a problematic subject.”
“An absolute priority for the Government of the Republic of Kosovo is security for Kosovo, the territorial integrity of the state and the life and well-being of citizens regardless,” Kurti said in a Facebook post.
He also demanded that the findings of the investigation into the Banjska incident be made public.
“The findings of the investigation into the September 24 terrorist and criminal attack in Banjska and Zvecan when Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed, should be made public immediately. Milan Radojcic and members of his paramilitary group must be turned over to the Kosovo authorities,” wrote Kurti.
He also asked the EU and US to impose sanctions on Serbia.
“I hope the European Union and the US will impose sanctions on Serbia, especially on its President Aleksandar Vucic, for hostile and aggressive behavior and actions against Kosovo, for the escalation in the north of our country and for abandoning the Basic Agreement,” added Kurti, assessing that the abandonment is contained in Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic’s letter to the EU of December 14.
The Kosovo Prime Minister also demanded the lifting of measures against Kosovo, that Kosovo be granted EU candidate status and that it be included in the Partnership for Peace with NATO, adding that “this is exactly how our Western partners would strongly urge Serbia to implement its obligation of de facto recognition of Kosovo.”
