Kosovo Serb Council to discuss Kosovo Serbs’ survival with opposition in Belgrade
The Serb National Council of Kosovo and Metohija (SNV) said a meeting with Serbian opposition parties will be held in Belgrade on Saturday, September 28, to discuss a “new strategy in the fight for the survival and continued presence of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.” (Kosovo and Metohija is the official name for what the Serbian authorities consider to be the country’s southern province)
The SNV said in a press release that, along with the Gracanica-based Serb National Forum (SNF) and the People’s Movement of Serbs from Kosovska Mitrovica ‘Homeland,” they called for an urgent meeting with Serbian opposition parties, relevant movements and organizations focused on Kosovo.
It explained that the September 28 roundtable in Belgrade was scheduled following consultations with all the leaders of opposition parties, movements and organizations in Serbia, all of whom have confirmed their attendance. Leaders of Serb political parties from Kosovo and Metohija have also been invited to attend.
A proposed framework for developing a strategy will be presented to the roundtable participants, the SNV added.
