Kosovo Serb politicians arrested in Mitrovica

It said that Serb Democracy leaders Aleksandar Arsenijevic and Stefan Veljkovic were arrested on Thursday morning and were released hours later to march with protesters who gathered in front of the local police station.

Senior Kosovo Police officer Veton Eslani said Arsenijevic was arrested for obstructing communal services. The two politicians were arrested at a central city square where communal services workers were painting over Serbian flags painted on the sides of buildings. The two men approached the workers asking who sent them there before the workers pulled back.

They were then approached by an ethnic Albanian cafe owner and a group of men who told them to mind their own business. The police arrived and arrested the two Serbs.
