The pro-regime Kosovo Online portal said the group of some 60 people started their march towards Novi Sad from Rudnica in northern Kosovo near the boundary line with Serbia proper. “The 60 of us started out from Kosovo and Metohija (the official term used by Serbian state officials) to support our President Aleksandar Vucic and give him full support. We know best how to love and respect Serbia and show everyone that we will persevere this time, that God will help us and that we will show the blockaders (derogatory term for the student protesters) that we are with a correct and strong Serbia,” an unnamed Kosovo Serb told the portal.
Others in the group said that they heard Vucic’s message that a big gathering of Serbs opposed to the blockades was being planned in Novi Sad which is the motive for their trip.
The Serbian authorities organized a similar march by regime supporters a few months earlier which ended when the marchers were seen piling into buses after a short walk.
