Kostolac wind farm starts trial operations

“This is a historic moment for EPS. Alongside energy from water, coal and the sun, we now have the first electricity from our own wind farm flowing into the grid at Kostolac. That’s 66 megawatts of new capacity and a major step forward in increasing the share of renewables and achieving sustainable energy development – not just for EPS, but for the entire Serbian power sector,” said EPS CEO Dusan Zivkovic.

He stressed that the Kostolac wind farm is only the beginning of an intensive development of new green projects within the company.

Energization and of the remaining wind turbines at other Kostolac locations is currently under way.

The wind farm is expected to generate 187 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, which is enough green power to supply approximately 30,000 households.

The project is financed by a 110 million euro loan from Germany's development bank KfW, a 30 million euro grant from the European Union within the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), and EPS’ own funds.
