Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said on Tuesday that the coming census will include damages and casualties of war.
According to Kurti, available census data is not complete but did not specify what data was missing. The census starts on April 5.
“The public will be able to report economic damages, destroyed property, family members killed, missing, injured or imprisoned,” he told a cabinet meeting adding that this part of the census will cover the period from February 28, 1998 to June 12, 1999.
Kurti said that witnesses to crimes are getting old making war crimes an urgent issue. “Evidence exists but we are losing witnesses because its been a quarter of a century since the last war in Kosovo,” he added.
