Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met with KFOR commander Major General Ozkan Ulutas to discuss the opening of the Mitrovica bridge, Radio TV Kosovo reported quoting a press release from Kurti's cabinet.
It said that the opening of the bridge across the Ibar which connects the two parts of the divided city was one of the main topics of discussion „as an honest, necessary and useful issue“.
The press release said that Kurti informed the general of the results of a report on the stability of the bridge and the meeting with the public in Mitrovica North about the opening of the bridge which the authorities in Pristina have been isisting on despite warnings from the Kosovo Serbs and international community.
A KFOR press release said that the NATO-led mission is committed ot a safe and secure environment for all in Kosovo and that it „will not hesitate to act in response to any relevant security developments“. It recalled that KFOR has a fixed presence on the bridge in Mitrovica and the surrounding area. „We reaffirm that any decision concerning the bridge over the Ibar River must be taken through political dialogue and in a coordinated manner,“ it said.
